TOP 20 batsmen to watch out for in this year’s IPL 2020

  1. Yashasvi Jaiswal: ICC Under-19 world cup winning star batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has been picked up by the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL auction. He is a young talented left-handed batsman who is known for his brilliant performances in the ICC Under-19 World Cup.
  2. Shubman Gill: Another ICC Under-19 star who had also won the emerging player of IPL in the previous season will be keener to perform well this season for the Kolkata Knight Riders. He will be opening for Kolkata Knight Riders in the absence of Chris Lynn who has moved now to the Mumbai Indians.
  1. Rishab Pant: Left-handed hard hitter wicketkeeper-batsman Rishab Pant, plays for the Delhi Capitals. He has the ability to hit huge sixes out of the ground. He will be desperate to score runs this year to cement his position in the India team. Questions are raised on his wicketkeeping skills and throwing the wicket away by bad shot-selections. He certainly will look to improve on this year.
  1. Shreyas Iyer: Middle-order batsman and skipper of the Delhi Capitals has been in good form off lately. He has led the team well in the previous two seasons. It was under his captaincy the Delhi Capitals for the first time qualified for the play-offs after 8 years.
  1. KL Rahul: King-XI Punjab skipper is in form of his life. He can bat at any positions and score runs with ease. He also hit the fastest fifty of just 14 balls against Delhi Capitals in 2018. He had scored 593 runs in 14 matches of the previous season. We expect him to score more than the previous season considering his current form.
  1. Steve Smith: Australian star batsmen Steve Smith who is also the captain the Rajasthan Royals will the key player to watch out for. He has scored crucial runs for the Royals whenever required. He will have to anchor the team’s innings in the absence of Ajinkya Rahane.
  1. Sarfaraz Khan: He is an underrated player who has performed exceptionally well in domestic first-class cricket. He bats at the middle order for King-XI Punjab and will expect a promotion in the batting order from this season onwards.
  1. Tom Banton: Kolkata Knight Riders young batsman will play for the first time in IPL. He has a big reputation for batting in Big Bash League. He has not been tested in Asia but is expected to perform well in these conditions too.
  1. Andre Russel: Dress Russel has had a dream season last year. Playing for Kolkata Knight Riders, Russel had won matches for KKR in the previous season from impossible situations single-handedly. He uses his muscle and wrist power to strike the ball really hard. He also won the most valuable player award striking at 186.8 in 14 matches.
  1. Virat Kohli: Indian and Royal Challengers Banglore captain will be exited for yet another season of IPL. The fitness which he has gained in the last 4 months of lock-down clearly indicates how eager he is to get some runs under his belt and also win the maiden title for RCB
  1. AB De Villers: Mr 360 degrees, ABD has been the most favorite player for the fans across the country. His batting ability and the style of hitting sixes is always a treat to watch. Virat Kohli and AB De Villers are the heart and heartbeat of RCB.
  1. Jos Buttler: English wicket-keeper batsman ‘Jos the Boss’ has changed the fortunes of Rajasthan Royals since he started to open the innings. He plays the reverse sweeps and dilscoopes with pure perfection. He will be a vital player to give a good start in the powerplay overs.
  1. Glen Maxwell: Kings XI Punjab franchise had recalled Maxwell to proving the lack of finishing which they missed in the previous seasons. IPL in UAE is an advantage for KXIP as they have never lost a match in the UAE when IPL was pushed in 2014. Glen Maxwell had performed exceptionally well in UAE. He will certainly look confident even in this year’s IPL held at UAE.
  1. Rohit Sharma: Mumbai Indians captain has been too good with his captaincy but hasn’t performed too well with the bat by his standard in the previous IPL season. He is expected to lead the team with his batting performances as well.
  1. Chirs Lynn: After serving the KKR for quite a long time, Lynn has now moved to Mumbai Indians. The pitch at Abu Dhabi will suit his terrific batting.
  1. Aaron Finch: Australian captain Aaron Finch will be opening with India Captain Virat Kohli for the first time. Finch has done well in T20Is for Australia. However, the conditions at UAE will test his temperament.
  1. David Warner: Sunrises Hyderabad skipper David Warner has been the most consistent overseas player in IPL. He has scored 500+ runs the previous five editions of IPL. He has also won the orange cap ( most runs) in the 2019 IPL season.
  1. Jonny Bairstow: English wicket-keeper batsman had played his first edition for Sunrises Hyderabad. He had scored 445 runs in the previous season. He is expected to continue his good run in next season as well. 
  1. MS Dhoni: Former Indian Captain and Captain of the Chennai Super Kings has been a fabulous all-time captain in IPL history. Post-retirement from International cricket, he will look to bat with a more free mind.
  1. Suresh Raina: IPL and vice-captain of Chennai Super Kings has always given his best for the franchise both with the bat and field. He is the second leading runs scorer of IPL with 5368 runs.
